Meditation, Stress, And Your Health

Mastering meditation takes practice and dedication, but it is a valuable and rewarding new age practice well worth the effort. Speaking of meditating deep as a Zen monk, brain researchers have reported EEG alpha coherence in the frontal brain area during Zen meditation-as well as during the Transcendental Meditation technique (which shows EEG coherence throughout the entire brain).

Having panic attacks that would restrict my breathing and, once, sent me into a blackout seizure on the studio floor that involved an ambulance trip to accident and emergency.” Rachel has recovered to some extent; she experiences similar feelings on a lower level even today, but has learned to recognise the symptoms and take steps to combat them.

Each method has its advantages and disadvantages so what we want to look focus on is the method of meditating in a chair and some of the elements of this meditation technique you need to be aware of. Meditation is a practice where you train your mind or induce a state of consciousness.

But, people listen to their musical creations even today. Meditation is the mental exercise of focusing all your attention, moment after moment, on the object of meditation. Start with short sessions of ten or fifteen minutes and meditate more frequently. In this type of meditation, you focus your attention on a sacred image or being, weaving feelings of love, compassion and gratitude into your thoughts.

Begin by focusing on the breathing and start to feel relaxed. For people who start meditating, silence can be quite intimidating, so music brings reassurance and familiarity when embarking on this new journey. The variety of music suits a variety of intentions from relaxation to focus to sleeping.

Turn off the TV, and make sure you are in a room where there aren't too many things to divert your attention to. Get pressing things done ahead of time so you won't feel the need to worry about them while you meditate. We can feel worried and stressed, but also alert with some focus.

It is not to clear your mind, but to step back from the noise , to put your attention on your chosen focus. If you are at work, and you are starting to feel stressed, go to the restroom, or somewhere quiet and just close your eyes and take a few deep slow breathes and practice quieting you mind for a few minutes.
